Get ready for an exciting event this year as Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) team up to present the “Julien’s Auctions & TCM 2024 Spotlight Series” at Comic-Con Museum. Currently on display at the museum, these coveted items will be up for grabs in an exclusive live and online auction on Sunday, July 28, at 10:00 AM.
Featured in this event is “Harry Potter and Other Heroes,” a spectacular collection of props, production materials, and memorabilia from iconic franchises like Harry Potter, Marvel Cinematic Universe, and DC Comics. The auction will also showcase a special collection from Dan Romanelli, legendary founder of Warner Brothers Consumer Products, with proceeds benefiting charities chosen by the donors.
Highlights include a range of beloved character wands and costumes from the Harry Potter films, such as Lord Voldemort’s wand used by Ralph Fiennes in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” (estimated at $15,000-$20,000), Harry Potter’s wand (estimated at $8,000-$10,000), Death Eater props, Gary Oldman’s Sirius Black wand prop, Michael Gambon’s Albus Dumbledore elder wand prop (estimated at $8,000-$10,000), and other magical items like Hogwarts School artifacts and more.

Immerse yourself in the world of POPnology, Comic-Con Museum’s latest interactive exhibit that demonstrates the connection between pop culture and real-world technology! Engage with your favorite science fiction technology such as driverless cars, robots, drones, and more to learn how fantasy becomes reality and explore which science fiction of today will become reality tomorrow.
POPnology not only chronicles humans’ progression from science fiction to science fact but also illuminates emerging technologies that are just now showing up on the cultural radar. Highlights of the exhibit include how we Play, Connect, Live and Play, and Move.
BORDER BLITZ: ARTISTAS DEL CÓMIC DE TIJUANA

In collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego and sponsored in part by Cross Border Xpress, Comic-Con Museum announces its current exhibit “Border Blitz: Artistas del Cómic de Tijuana,” a binational exhibition and participating World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024 community initiative.
The exhibit showcases the work of Charles Glaubitz, Alejandra Yépiz Portillo, and Urbano Mata.

BECOMING BETTY BOOP

Comic-Con Museum® and Fleischer Studios present Becoming Betty Boop, an exclusive exhibit showcasing the nearly 100-year history and evolution of the iconic cartoon character.
Also highlighted are the eight women who have voiced Betty over the years, and history and animation enthusiasts will appreciate the focus on innovative industry pioneers Max and Dave Fleischer, founders of Fleischer Studios and inventors of the rotoscope.
COLLABORATION(S)! A JOURNEY WITH JOHN JENNINGS

This exhibit showcases collaborations of John Jennings, an Eisner Award–winning comic artist and author. He is the director of the Abrams ComicArts imprint Megascope and co-editor of the 2016 Eisner Award–winning collection The Blacker the Ink: Constructions of Black Identity in Comics and Sequential Art.
CARDBOARD SUPERHEROES
This exhibit features life-size and miniature cardboard creations that are the work of the Cardboard Superheroes, Connor and Bauer Lee. The Cardboard Superheroes use fan art creation as an on-ramp to STEAM learning that is led by youth, and is accessible to all.

LOGO LEGACY

Matt Bruback, an avid comic book collector, discovered the first appearances of several unique brand emblems displayed on comics from the 1940s. Following extensive research, he found that there were less than 12 copies of each of the first four Marvel Comics brand emblems in the world. To date, Bruback has documented 60 different company brand emblems, featuring a total of 175 first brand emblem logos. Be one of the first to see this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition that is changing the world of comic book collecting as we know it! |

Free parking is available near the museum and throughout Balboa Park. The closest Balboa Park parking lots to the Museum are the Pan American Plaza Lot and the Federal Lot. However, the use of public transportation or rideshare is strongly encouraged.
Public Transportation:
There are two primary bus routes to Balboa Park, Route 120 and Route 7.
The Museum is easily accessible and a 12-minute ride by taxi, Uber, or Lyft.
